Dell EMC PowerFlex Rack Using PowerFlex Manager

PDF

Edit compatibility management settings

To facilitate upgrades, PowerFlex Manager uses information that is provided in the compatibility matrix file to determine which upgrade paths are valid.

About this task

When you attempt an upgrade, PowerFlex Manager warns you if the current version of the software is incompatible with the target version, or if any of the RCM versions that are currently loaded on the virtual appliance are incompatible with the target compliance versions. To determine which paths are valid and which are not, PowerFlex Manager uses information that is provided in the compatibility matrix file. The compatibility matrix file maps all the known valid and invalid paths for all previous releases of the software.

When you first install PowerFlex Manager, the software does not have the compatibility matrix file, so you must upload the file before performing any updates. You must upload the latest compatibility matrix file to ensure that PowerFlex Manager has access to the latest upgrade information.

You can download the file from Secure Remote Services or upload it from a local directory path. The file has a GPG extension and an associated compatibility version number.

Prerequisites

If you are uploading from a local directory path, ensure that you have access to a valid compatibility matrix file that has the GPG extension. If you are using Secure Remote Services, ensure that Secure Remote Services has been properly configured.

Steps

  1. On the menu bar, click Settings and then click Virtual Appliance Management.
  2. On the Virtual Appliance Management page, under the Compatibility Management section, click Edit.
  3. Click Download from Secure Remote Services (Recommended) if you are using Secure Remote Services.
  4. Click Upload from Local to use a local file. Then, click Choose File to select the GPG file.
