Initially, there are no volumes for a new service. Add at least one volume to a service for it to be in a complete state. If the service is a VMware ESXi cluster that has VMware High Availability (HA) enabled, you need to add at least two volumes.
About this task
When you add volumes to a
PowerFlex compute-only node,
PowerFlex maps the volumes and creates the datastores.
For a
PowerFlex compute-only node deployment, the service is in lifecycle mode as there is no information on protection domain and storage. Migrate the vCLS VMs to shared storage.
Steps
On the
Service Details page, click
Add Resources > Add Volumes.
To add existing volumes, select
Add Existing Volumes.
Click
Select Volumes to choose the volumes to add.
Enter a volume or datastore name search string in the
Search Text box. You can apply additional search criteria using the size, type, compression, or storage filters.
Click
Search.
Click the check box for each volume you want to add.
Click the
>> button to select the volumes. Click
Add.
Define a template for datastore names in the
Datastore Name Template field. The template must include a variable that allows
PowerFlex Manager to product a unique datastore name.
Click
Next. Review the volume details on the
Summary screen.
Click
Finish.
The service moves to the
In Progress state and the new volume icons appear on the
Service Details page. After the deployment completes, the new volumes appear on the
Service Details page with a check mark in the
Storage list.
