Dell EMC PowerFlex Rack Using PowerFlex Manager

PDF

Add a network to a service

You can add an available network to a service or choose to define a new network for a configuration that was initially deployed outside of PowerFlex Manager. You cannot remove an added network using PowerFlex Manager.

About this task

Before you can add a network to a service, define the network.

You can add a static route to allow nodes to communicate across different networks. The static route can also be used to support replication in storage-only and hyperconverged services.

Prerequisites

Ensure that a new VLAN is created on any switches that need access to that VLAN and is added to any management cluster server-facing ports. The VLAN is then added it to any northbound trunks to other switches that it must communicate with.

Steps

  1. Log in to PowerFlex Manager.
  2. On the menu bar, click Services.
  3. Select a service for which you want to add a network and in the right pane, click View Details.
  4. Under Resource Action, from the Add Resources list, click Add Network.
The Add Network window is displayed. All used resources and networks are displayed under Resource Name and Networks.
  5. Click Add Additional Network to add an additional network:
    1. From the Available Networks list, select the network, and click Add.
The selected network is displayed under Network Name. You can define a new network by clicking Define a New Network.
    2. Select Port Group from the Select Port Group list.
    3. Click Save.
  6. Click Add Additional Static Route to add an additional static route:
    1. Click Add New Static Route.
    2. Select a Source Network.

The source network must be a PowerFlex data network or a replication network.

    3. Select a Destination Network.

The destination network must be a PowerFlex data network or a replication network.

    4. Type the IP address for the Gateway.
    5. Click Save.
