Dell PowerFlex Appliance with PowerFlex 3.x Administration Guide

PDF

Workflow

Here is the workflow for removing the existing PowerFlex hyperconverged nodes from PowerFlex Manager and enabling replication on the existing PowerFlex hyperconverged nodes:

  1. Remove the existing PowerFlex hyperconverged nodes from PowerFlex Manager.
  2. Create and configure replication port groups (flex-rep1-<vlanid> and flex-rep2-<vlanid>) in flex_dvswitch.
  3. Prepare SVM for replication, as follows:
    1. Enter the storage data server (SDS) node (SVMs) into maintenance mode.
    2. Add the virtual NICs to the SVMs for storage data replication (SDR) external communication.
    3. Modify vCPU, memory, virtual Non-Uniform Memory Access (vNUMA), and CPU reservation settings on SVMs.
  4. Power on the SVM and configure the network interfaces.
  5. Install the SDR on the SDS nodes (SVMs).
  6. Exit SDS maintenance mode.
  7. Add journal capacity percentage. The recommended starting value is 10%.
  8. Add the Storage Data Replicator (SDR) to the PowerFlex nodes.
  9. Create the peer system between the source and destination site.
  10. Add the peer system.
  11. Create the replication consistency group (RCG).
  12. Define network for replication in PowerFlex Manager. Do not define the gateway.
  13. Add an existing service to PowerFlex Manager.
