Windows server operating system password management

Use this procedure to change the Windows server operating system password.

About this task

The terms <OLD_PASSWORD> and <NEW_PASSWORD> are used to see the current and new passwords respectively.

Steps

  1. Log in to PowerFlex Manager.
  2. Click Settings > Credentials Management, select the Windows Compute-Only nodes credential. See Credentials management for more information.
  3. Click Edit and change the password to the <NEW_PASSWORD> and click Save.
  4. To change the Windows Server operating system password on every hyperconverged or compute-only node, complete the following:
  5. Log in to the server either directly or by using Remote Desktop.
  6. Right-click Computer, and select Manage.
  7. Select Configuration.
  8. Click Local Users and Groups > Users.
  9. Find and right-click the Administrator user.
  10. Click Set Password > Proceed.
  11. Type and confirm the new password.
  12. Test the changes. The PowerFlex nodes may show a critical error. The error is due to the time lag between changing the password in PowerFlex Manager and changing the password in the Windows operating system. The following steps return the PowerFlex nodes to a healthy state:
    1. In the PowerFlex Manager GUI, go to Resources, select the Windows CO nodes, and click Run Inventory.
    2. To confirm that the process completes with no errors, check Settings > Logs.
    3. In the PowerFlex Manager GUI, go to Services for Red Hat Enterprise Linux nodes and click Update Service Details.
    4. After the Update Service Details process completes, confirm that all cluster objects report as healthy (green check mark).
