PDF

Upgrading a PowerFlex appliance environment

Use this section when there are new versions of PowerFlex Manager and Intelligent Catalog available.

About this task

NOTE:PowerFlex Manager does not support upgrades to VMware vCenter or the controller hosts. To manually upgrade, see Upgrading VMware vCenter.

You can update the PowerFlex appliance environment by following these steps in the order that is shown here.

If your system has native asynchronous replication enabled, note the following:

  • The standard upgrade process should be followed on each system.
  • Upgrade one system fully, before upgrading the second system.
  • It is ideal to have both systems running the same Intelligent Catalog version. The recommendation is to upgrade them both when logistically possible.
  • Do not pause the replication process when following standard upgrade procedures.
WARNING:If the PowerFlex hyperconverged nodes or PowerFlex compute-only nodes are part of NSX-T, ensure you or VMware Services upgrades the NSX-T Data Center before upgrading VMware vSphere ESXi on the nodes. Dell EMC is not responsible for installing or upgrading NSX-T Data Center.
Secure Remote Services Upgrades
WARNING:For nodes in reserved mode, a firmware update will cause the nodes to reboot.
