Dell PowerFlex Appliance with PowerFlex 3.x Administration Guide

PDF

Upgrade the Dell network

There are several options for the upgrading of OS10. It may be installed manually using the onie-nos-install <URL> command while in ONIE, and can be upgraded from the OS10# command prompt using the image install and boot system commands.

Several protocols are supported for the transfer of OS10 files over the network to the switch. These protocols include TFTP, FTP, HTTP, and SCP. You can also copy and install the OS from a local file using a USB device, or the IMAGE directory on the switch.

Prerequisites for access switch upgrades:

  • Ensure the primary MDM is not residing with the same PowerFlex rack as the current switch upgrade.
  • The primary MDM usually resides on R01S01, when upgrading access switches for Rack 1, secondary MDM (usually resides on R02S01) will be promoted to primary. The primary MDM will be moved back after completion of primary switch upgrade
  • To switch ownership between primary and secondary MDM, type on the primary MDM: scli --switch_mdm_ownership --new_master_mdm_id <MDM_ID>
