Retrieving PowerFlex performance metrics using a PowerFlex version prior to 3.5

Use this procedure to retrieve PowerFlex performance metrics for a PowerFlex version prior to 3.5.

Prerequisites

Use a standard tool to generate simulated IOPS. A simple way to do this is to load a Linux VM and use flexible I/O Tests (fio) to generate IOPS. Following, is the command line using fio to generate random reads and writes:
fio --name=randrw --rw=randrw --direct=1 --ioengine=libaio --bs=16k --numjobs=8 --rwmixread=90 -- size=1G --runtime=600 --group_reporting

Steps

  1. To retrieve overall performance metrics:
    1. Launch the PowerFlex GUI.
    2. In the Dashboard, look at the IO Workload page.
    3. The Dashboard displays the following:
      • Overall system IOPs
      • Overall system bandwidth
      • Read/write statistics
      • Average I/O size
  2. To retrieve volume-specific metrics:
    1. Select Frontend > Volumes.
    2. Select a volume and click the Property Sheet icon.
    3. The volume performance metrics are displayed in the General section of the Volume Properties pane.
  3. To retrieve host-specific metrics:
    1. Select Frontend > SDCs.
    2. Select a host, and click the Property Sheet icon.
    3. The host performance metrics are displayed in the General section of the Host SDC Properties pane.
