Migrating VMware vSphere Cluster Services (vCLS) VMs

This task helps migrate the VMware vCLS VMs to service datastore using the Migrate vCLS VM wizard in PowerFlex Manager and bring the service in managed mode.

About this task

VMware vCLS is a new feature in VMware vSphere 7.0 Update 2a. This feature ensures cluster services such as vSphere DRS and vSphere HA are available to maintain the resources and health of the workloads running in the clusters independent of the VMware vCenter server instance availability.

Steps

  1. Log in to PowerFlex Manager and select the Service tab.
  2. Select the existing hyperconverged cluster.
  3. Go to Service page and click the Migrate vCLS wizard.
  4. Select the volume and datastore to migrate the vCLS VMs.
    NOTE:For example, volume could be named powerflex-service-vol-1,powerflex-service-vol-2 and datastore named powerflex-esxclustershotname-ds1,powerflex-esxclustershotname-ds2.
  5. Click Finish.
    This action will creates two volumes and two datastores each of 16 GB and the VMs are migrate to service datastore.
