Mapping a volume to a Windows PowerFlex compute-only node

Use this procedure to map a PowerFlex volume to a Windows PowerFlex compute-only node in the customer cluster.

About this task

For Windows PowerFlex compute-only nodes, only firmware upgrades are supported.

Steps

  1. Log in to the PowerFlex GUI and click the Configuration tab.
  2. Click Volumes.
  3. Select volume and click Mapping and select Map.
  4. Select the required Windows compute-only node and click Map.
  5. Select the volume to map and click Apply.
  6. Select the Windows compute-only nodes, and click Map Volumes.
  7. Log in to the Windows Server compute-only node and open disk management.
  8. Right-click the Windows icon, and then select Disk Management.
  9. Rescan the disk by selecting Action > Rescan Disks.
  10. Find the disk in the bottom frame, right-click in the left area of the disk, and select Online.
  11. Initialize the disk by performing the following steps:
    1. Find the disk in the bottom frame, right click in the right area of the disk, and then select New Simple Volume.
    2. In the New Simple Volume Wizard, click Next.
    3. Select the default, and click Next.
    4. Assign the drive letter, and click Next.
    5. Select the default, and click Next.
    6. Click Finish.
