Installing the offline repository

Use this procedure to install an offline repository.

Steps

  1. Create a directory in the /shares volume called centos-RPM, type: sudo mkdir /shares/Centos-RPM.
  2. Copy the repository update ZIP file to the /tmp directory of the embedded operating system VM using WinSCP or similar.
  3. Extract the contents of the repository update ZIP file to the /shares/Centos-RPM directory, type: sudo unzip /tmp/repofilename.zip -d /shares/Centos-RPM.
  4. Create and modify a new repository file in the (/etc/yum.repos.d) directory, type: sudo vi /etc/yum.repos.d/centos.rpm.repo. In this example, the file that is created is (/etc/yum.repos.d/centos.rpm.repo).
  5. Clean the yum cache, type: # sudo yum clean all.
  6. Verify access to the new repository, type: # sudo yum repolist.
  7. Deploy the updates from the repository, type: yum update. When prompted answer (y).
  8. When the process is complete, reboot the system, type: reboot.
  9. Once the system reboot has completed, verify kernel version, type: uname -a viewing the (/etc/centos-release) file.
  10. Verify the embedded operating system version, type: cat /etc/centos-release.
  11. Remove the RPM files, type: sudo rm -f -r /shares/Centos-RPM.
  12. Remove the repository index file, type: sudo rm /etc/yum.repos.d/centos.rpm.repo.
  13. Clean yum cache, type sudo yum clean all.
