Firmware requirements

CAUTION:The minimum required ONIE version is 3.40.1.1-6. Before using ONIE firmware updater, if your switch has an ONIE version lower than 3.40.1.1-6, you must first upgrade your switch to this minimum requirement.

NOTE:Boot the switch and choose ONIE: Rescue mode to perform firmware upgrade.

To upgrade the ONIE version, use the ONIE discovery-stop command, as shown:

# onie-discovery-stop
 # onie-self-update onie-updater-x86_64-dellemc__c3538-r0.3.40.1.1-6

After you upgrade your switch to the minimum ONIE version requirement, you can use the ONIE firmware updater, as shown:

# onie-discovery-stop 
# onie-fwpkg add onie-firmware-x86_64-dellemc__c3538-r0.3.40.5.1-9.bin
# onie-discovery-start

BMC	Changes the system LED to solid amber when the temperature sensor reaches the critical temperature threshold. Changes the system LED to solid amber when a CPU thermal trip event occurs. Fixes the fault LED that did not recover to normal after temperature sensor reading goes low. Fixes the PSU and voltage sensors that did not work when the CPU is power off. Fixes the front panel fan LED that did not blink amber when fan 4 failed.
BIOS	Updates the Code Base to Label 40. Updates the Microcode to 0x2E to fix and Intel security issue. Sets the system LED in the BIOS at a specific time. Gets the BMC IP and displays this information under the BIOS setup. Adds the FW version GUID for AMI Afu support. Disables unused 10 GbE LAN Disables preserved NVRAM region during flash BIOS. Improves system-if BMC crashes, still have serial output.
SSD	Updates SATA imageL18702C. Adds invalid count to Smarttools display list.
CPLD Master v00_06	Fixes internal test features. No change to functionality.

NOTE:During a firmware update, if there is an efivars duplicate issue, the BIOS configuration sets to the default, and the efivar duplicate issue resolves.
