Editing the SVM configuration

Use this task to set the SVM numa.vcpu.maxPerVirtualNode to half the vCPU's assigned to the SVM.

About this task

For example, if the SVM has 24 vCPU, set this numa.vcpu.maxPerVirtualNode = 12.

Steps

  1. Browse to the SVM in the VMware vSphere client.
  2. To find a VM select a data center, folder, cluster, resource pool, or host.
  3. Click the VMs tab.
  4. Right-click the VM and select Edit Settings.
  5. Click VM Options and expand Advanced.
  6. Under Configuration Parameters, click Edit Configuration.
  7. In the dialog box that appears, click Add Configuration Params to enter a new parameter name and its value.
    Example: numa.vcpu.maxPerVirtualNode = 12
  8. Click OK > OK.
    Ensure the following:
    • CPU shares are set to high.
    • 50% of the vCPU's reserved on the SVM.

For example, if the SVM is configured with 24 vCPUs and CPU speed is 3 GHz, set a reservation of 36 GHz (24x3/2).

  9. Right-click the VM you want to change and select Edit Settings.
  10. Under the Virtual Hardware tab, expand CPU, verify Reservation and Shares as mentioned.
