Adding a new Intelligent Catalog file and OS images to PowerFlex Manager

Add a new compliance file (Intelligent Catalog) and new OS images files using PowerFlex Manager.

About this task

PowerFlex Manager only supports Intelligent Catalog upgrades. Intelligent Catalog downgrades are not supported. Once you initiate an upgrade, it must run to completion. Contact your Dell Technologies account team if you need further assistance with an upgrade.

Steps

  1. Log in to PowerFlex Manager.
  2. On the menu bar, click Settings and select Compliance and OS Repositories.
  3. Click the question mark ? in the upper right corner of the Add Compliance File page and follow the online help.
  4. Verify that Make this the default version for compliance checking is selected.
    NOTE:The Intelligent Catalog does not contain OS image files. You must load OS files separately by clicking Settings and selecting Compliance and OS Repositories.
  5. Go to Dell Support and log in using the Service Tag associated with any of the PowerFlex nodes in the PowerFlex appliance.
  6. Go to the Drivers & Download tab to download the Intelligent Catalog and OS image files.
    NOTE:To be notified when new software releases are available, click Driver Notifications at the bottom of the Drivers & Downloads tab.
  7. On the Compliance and OS Repositories page, on the OS Image Repositories tab and click Add.
  8. In the Add OS Image Repository dialog box, enter the name of the repository, the image type, and the path of the OS image file name.
    To download the minimal embedded operating system image file, see the Intelligent Catalog for the exact ISO to be used.
    1. Go to CentOS.org.
    2. Click the link for the required ISO.

      For example, if the Intelligent Catalog specifies Embedded OS 7, then click CentOS 7 x86_64 iso images.

    3. Click a link to one of the mirror images available in your region.
      NOTE:The links lead to the same Index page.
    4. Download the minimal ISO that is specified in the Intelligent Catalog.

      For example, CentOS-7-x86_64-Minimal-2009.iso.

  9. Click Add.
  10. To edit the applicable services, do the following:
    1. Go to the Service tab.
    2. Select the service that you want to upgrade.
    3. Click Edit.
    4. In the OS Image field, select the ISO image that is uploaded.
      NOTE:Do not select the Use Compliance File Image for an Intelligent Catalog deployed service.
    5. Click Save.
