Access switch password management

Use this procedure to change the password of the access switches.

About this task

During predeployment, the person doing the installation sets the password for the access switches. During deployment of PowerFlex Manager, you also set the switch password in PowerFlex Manager. When the access switch password is changed after deployment, you must also change the access switch password within PowerFlex Manager to maintain manageability by PowerFlex Manager.

The terms <OLD_PASSWORD> and <NEW_PASSWORD> are used to see current and new passwords respectively.

Steps

Change the PowerFlex Manager access switch password by doing the following:
1. In PowerFlex Manager, go to Settings > Credentials Management, select the access switch credential, click Edit, change the Password to the <NEW_PASSWORD>, and click Save. See Credentials management for more information.

Change the password of the access switches by doing the following:

Use an SSH client program like PuTTY to log in to an access switch console.

Type the following commands:


Switch type	Command
Dell PowerSwitch	configure username admin password <NEW_PASSWORD> privilege 15 end copy running-config startup-config
Cisco Nexus	configure username admin password 0 <NEW_PASSWORD> end copy running-config startup-config

Test the changes.
1. In the PowerFlex Manager GUI, go to Resources page, select the access switches, and click the Run Inventory.
2. To confirm that the process completes with no errors, check Settings > Logs.
