Dell PowerFlex Appliance with PowerFlex 3.x Administration Guide

PDF

Upgrading VMware vCenter

This section provides details on the upgrading a patch release of VMware vCenter on the PowerFlex appliance controller node. Depending on whether you are upgrading a PowerFlex management controller or a PowerFlex management node, proceed with the appropriate upgrade procedures. See Introduction for more information.

There are UI changes for the VMware vSphere Client 7.0 U3x update:

  • On the Home screen, there is no Menu button. The new menu is next to vSphere Client.
  • From the Add DVSwitch menu, the New Host is no longer available.
NOTE:You must upgrade VMware vCenter before you upgrade the PowerFlex appliance.

When upgrading VMware vCenter from 6.7.x or 7.0x to 7.0U3x, if the upgrade fails because of the precheck, ESXi could potentially have dual i40en driver conflicts. For more information, see the KB article https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/86447. Use Option 2 from the KB article and remove the conflicting drive from the impacted hosts and upgrade VMware vCenter again.
