Removing the IDSDM or vFlash module

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
  3. For systems that support rear 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch drive configuration, remove the rear drive cage to access the IDSDM or vFlash module.
  4. Remove the expansion card installed in slot 6 or 8, to access the IDSDM or vFlash module.
  5. If you are replacing the IDSDM or vFlash module, remove the MicroSD cards.
    NOTE Temporarily label each MicroSD card with its corresponding slot number after removal.

Steps

  1. Locate the IDSDM or vFlash connector on the system board.
    To locate IDSDM or vFlash connector, see the System board jumpers and connectors section.
  2. Holding the pull tab, lift the IDSDM or vFlash module out of the system.

    NOTE To enable or disable write-protection, use the dip switches that are on the IDSDM or vFlash module.
