Removing a 3.5 inch drive from the 3.5 inch drive carrier
Prerequisites
- Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
- Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
- Remove the drive carrier from the mid drive tray.
CAUTION Mixing drives from
previous generations of PowerEdge servers is not supported.
CAUTION To maintain proper
system cooling, all empty drive slots must have drive blanks installed.
Steps
- Push out at the edges of the carrier to disengage the tabs on the drive carrier from the slots on the drive.
- Lift the drive out of the drive carrier.
