Dell PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance 5.13.0.0 Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) Procedures Guide for DM5500

Removing a power supply unit

Prerequisites

CAUTION: The DM5500 needs one power supply unit (PSU) for normal operation. On power-redundant systems, remove and replace only one PSU at a time in a DM5500 that is powered on. The DM5500 supports either 1100W PSUs or 1600W PSUs, depending on the country where it is installed. When you are replacing a PSU, make sure that both PSUs are the same wattage.
  1. Identify the failed power supply unit by using one of the following methods:
    • Check the Alerts page in the Data Manager Appliance UI.
    • Using SSH, log in to the DM5500 command line interface (CLI) with admin privileges.
      1. Use the admin username and the DM5500 password.
      2. At the command line, type the following command: # system showfru Power

The screen displays that the system is collecting data. When the data collection is completed, the screen displays status information for the power supply units. Check which power supply unit has failed and requires replacement.

        Example command output:

        Collecting Data............
        ESXiHost 192.168.100.101:
ID Status Redundancy Model Part# Serial# FW Version
        ================================================================================
        1 OK Unknown PWR SPLY,1100W,RDNT,LTON 0CMPGMA03 CNLOD0019O26DE 00.23.32
        2 Error Unknown PWR SPLY,1100W,RDNT,LTON 0CMPGMA03 CNLOD001CN35C6 00.23.32

In the above example, power supply unit 2 is the failed power supply unit.

  2. Disconnect the power cable from the power source and from the PSU you intend to remove, and then remove the cable from the strap on the PSU handle.

Steps

Press the release latch and slide the PSU out of the system by using the PSU handle.
