Record settings for server DR

Plan for DR by recording vital information. If a major outage occurs, you need this information to recover your systems. Some items are only required for particular DR scenarios. Record the following information in a local drive outside PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance:

Steps

  1. If PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance is deployed to Hypervisor Platform, record the port groups:
    1. Log in to the Hypervisor Platform client.
NOTE: Customers do not have access and need support.
    2. Right-click the appliance name and select Edit Settings.
    3. Record the port group settings that are assigned to PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance.
This information is useful when restoring to the same VMware environment.
  2. Record the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance FQDN.
  3. Log in to the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance user interface as a user with the administrator role.
  4. Record the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance version and build numbers.
Dell Customer Support can provide this information, which is not mandatory.
  5. Click settings icon, select Disaster Recovery, and then click Configuration.
  6. Record whether server DR storage uses DD Boost.
  7. Record the protection storage system IP address or FQDN.
  8. If you configured server DR replication, record the FQDN for the replication target.
