Configure assets

Assets are the basic units that PowerProtect DM5500 protects. Asset sources are the mechanism that PowerProtect DM5500 uses to manage assets and communicate with the protection storage where backup copies of the assets are stored.

Asset sources can be a vCenter server, or application host. Assets can be on of the following:

  • Virtual machines
  • File systems
  • Microsoft Exchange Server databases
  • Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Oracle databases
  • SAP HANA databases
  • Kubernetes namespaces
  • NAS shares and appliances
  • Cloud Snapshot Manager tenants

Click Configure in the Assets pane to open the Assets wizard.

Click Enable to enable the applicable assets that must be protected.

See Managing Assets for more information about managing assets from the UI.
