Configure SupportAssist

SupportAssist is a support tool that communicates with PowerProtect DM5500 to monitor your environment, automatically detect current and potential issues, and collect and store diagnostic data. SupportAssist securely sends the data that is required for troubleshooting an issue to Customer Support for diagnostic purposes and Customer Support.

About this task

Perform the following steps to configure and apply settings for SupportAssist.

Steps

  1. Select one of the following in the Connect section:
    • Directly to Dell Technologies
    • Via the SupportAssist gateway server
  2. Select one of the following in the Options section:
    • Use a proxy server.
    • User RemoteSupport
  3. Configure the following in the Primary Contact (Recommended) section:
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Email Address
    NOTE: Use this contact information to follow up the support cases that SupportAssist raises. This information can be updated later in the Settings menu in the UI.
  4. Click Next to go to Email section.
    NOTE: The Status toggle changes to Enabled, once all the fields are configured.
