Clean cloud manually

Files in the cloud tier can be deleted as normal; however, associated space on cloud or object storage is not immediately reclaimed for use. The cloud tier must be cleaned to remove this superfluous data from the cloud. Perform the following steps to manually clean the cloud units that are associated with the appliance.

Prerequisites

  • A cloud unit must have experienced a minimum of 1% data 'churn' (>= 1% of the data existing on the cloud unit must be deemed to be superfluous) for cloud clean to start.
  • Active tier clean and cloud clean cannot run in parallel.
  • If cloud clean was started manually and active tier cleaning is attempted, the active tier clean fails to start until cloud clean runs to completion.

Steps

  1. From the left navigation pane, select Infrastructure > Storage.
    The Storage window appears.
  2. On the Summary tab, in the Cloud Tier section, click the three vertical dots.
  3. From the menu, select Clean Now.
The Clean Cloud Tier Now dialog box appears.
  4. Set the Throttle (%) percentage, and select the cloud unit to clean.
  5. To revert to the default setting, click Reset to Default.
  6. Click Clean to start cleaning the file system immediately.
