Change a storage unit password

It is recommended that you change passwords periodically for security purposes. Change the password for an existing storage unit through the Data Manager Appliance UI. The change synchronizes automatically with the Protection Storage system.

1. From the left navigation pane, select Infrastructure > Storage.
   The Storage window appears.
2. On the Summary tab, in the Active Tier section, click the three vertical dots.
3. From the menu, select Storage Units.
   The Protection Storage > Storage Units page appears and displays the list of storage units.
4. Select one or more storage units from the list for which you would like to change the password, and then click Update Password.
   You can only update the password for storage units that are under the control of Data Manager Appliance. For other storage units, the Update Password button is disabled.
   The Update Password for Storage Unit dialog box appears.
5. To automatically create a password for the storage unit:
   1. Select Automatically generate a new password.
   2. Click Update.
      If you selected multiple storage units, Data Manager Appliance creates a unique password for each storage unit.
   The storage unit password updates and synchronizes automatically with the Protection Storage system.
6. To create your own password:
   1. Select Enter a new password.
   2. In the Password field, type a new password for the storage unit according to the password policy.
   3. Click Update.
      If you selected multiple storage units, Data Manager Appliance uses the same password for each storage unit.
   The storage unit password updates and synchronizes automatically with the Protection Storage system.
7. Go to the Jobs window to monitor the progress of the password change operation.
8. Perform another backup of the protection policy and verify that the backup completes successfully.
