Migration between Application Direct and VM Direct configurations

You can use the following procedures to migrate the Microsoft application agent between the Application Direct and VM Direct configurations.

Migration from VM Direct to Application Direct configuration

You have installed the Microsoft application agent in VM Direct mode, and completed the VM Direct configuration, including the creation of an application-aware protection policy for VM Direct operations. To migrate from the VM Direct configuration to an Application Direct configuration, perform the following steps.

  1. Delete the host from PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance:

You can monitor the progress of the asset source deletion from the Jobs > System Jobs window.

  2. Uninstall the Microsoft application agent, and delete the DPSAPPS folder.
  3. Uninstall the vProxy agent:

    1. Select Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
