Known issues

This section describes Data Manager Appliance Software known issues.

Table 1. Known issues in Data Manager Appliance Software 5.16.0.0Data Manager Appliance Software known issues
Issue ID Description Workaround/resolution
DMAS (I)-32799 The start up page is not displayed to the user even though the start up is in progress. Refresh the UI.
DMAS (P)-288267 During upgrade, you might observe the component is restarting alert. The alert is self-acknowledged later. None.
DMAS (P)-288256 After an upgrade, you are not directed to the login page. Refresh the browser.
DMAS (P)-287636 On the Copy Management page, when you switch display columns to 100, you might observe the 500: ID = {} error. Close the error message and set a more specific copy filter to reduce the result count.
DMAS (D)-240655 Unable to delete the file system backups after disabling retention lock governance. This issue is observed when the file system is full. Ensure that the file system has sufficient free space.
DMAS (P)-286415 Scheduled replication tasks fail because of the authentication failure of the remote storage unit. Manually set the same password in the policy and the storage unit using the UI.
DMAS (D)-234184 The PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance allows users to replace failed disks repeatedly without checking for completion of the previous disk replacement. The resulting full rebuild operation can take hours and continue to run in the background. This issue can result in data loss. No workaround is available.
DMAS (UI)-3436 The calendar widget closes when scrolling through the dropdown list to select a month from the Protection > File Filters or Infrastructure > Copy Management window. Select a month by clicking Left arrow or Right arrow instead.
DMAS (P)-284387 When you right click Storage and select Open link in new tab, the new tab does not render the contents and displays a blank page. Instead of selecting Open link in new tab, directly click the link, the contents are displayed properly in the existing UI window.
DMAS (P)-283714 In rare circumstances, the backup of a vCenter VM that is powered off after being cloned might randomly fail with low probability. The backup is known to succeed upon retry with high probability. No workaround is available.
DMAS (P)-282770 The following error message for File System file level restores is not clear and descriptive.
ARF0030: Unable to restore the backup performed at 1709821921 because the third-party component Robocopy produced the following error: No such file or directory.

The restore of this backup copy cannot be completed because an operation by a third party component was unsuccessful.

Review the vendor's error message for more information about the issue.
You must export logs or debug logs to investigate the failure.
DMAS (D)-235218 If the total number of storage units reaches 128 and if the deleted storage units are not cleaned up, creating a storage unit fails with the following error:
Failed to create storage unit : "**** Maximum number of MTrees reached.
Clean up the deleted storage units and retry the operation.
DMAS (P)-284672 A File System file-level restore job fails with the 504 timeout error, and the failed job cannot be restarted successfully. Manually trigger the same restore again instead of restarting the failed job.
DMAS (P)-283752 When a backup or restore task fails with the ABA0023 EEMI code, you cannot assess the System Services Status on the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance UI even after following the given instructions in the message. This issue occurs only when the status of a backup or restore cannot be identified because of network connectivity issues that are encountered while monitoring the backup session. Check for any network issues between the agent host and the appliance.
DMAS (P)-282746 Existing RLG storage units show an option to switch to RLC. If you select the switch to RLC option, it fails with an error message indicating why the failure occurred. No workaround is available.
DMAS (P)-285591 SupportAssist asks for a license after logging in. You might encounter this issue if you log out from the Upgrade or Networks pages on a DM5500 system and then log back in and immediately go to the SupportAssist dialog. If you log out of the appliance from the Upgrade or Networks pages and log back in, go to another page before accessing the SupportAssist dialog.
DMAS (D)-202952 DDFS relaunch fails with the following error:
PANIC: ddr/index/ss_index_mbuf.c: ssim_load_bucket_thread: 3197
No workaround is available.
DMAS (D)-237311 A timeout error is observed while modifying the RLG days on a replication target even though the RLG-related policy modification operation is successful at the backend. Refresh the UI to confirm that the values are updated at the backend.
DMAS (P)-244311 If Agent registration fails due to name resolution lookup errors, the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance UI incorrectly displays Registered, but the Latest Status column does not give any information. If the registration failed due to name resolution lookup errors, the network administrator must ensure that there is a route that is configured and re attempt agent registration.
DMAS (I)-16178 If there is a power outage when the upgrade is in progress, the upgrade job fails. The services like Reporting, search1.dpappliance.local, and search2.dpappliance.local does not come up even after the power comes back. Follow the manual recovery procedure as in the KB 205745.
DMAS (P)-207078 If the same hostname (FQDN), volume GUID, or asset name is used for more than one asset, the asset discovery for File System Agent fails. Ensure that each asset has a unique name, hostname, and volume GUID.
DMAS (P)-281400 If a time zone has been configured in the user interface that is not UTC +5:30, selecting a date with the calendar widget from any of the Jobs pages or the Alerts page displays values in the Specific date field and Start Time filter that is one day earlier than what was selected. If the configured time zone is less than UTC +5:30, the date that is used in the filter results is also one day earlier than what was selected. As a workaround:
  • If the time zone is less than UTC +5:30, both the date that is displayed and the date that is used in the filter results are one day earlier than what was selected. To use the desired date in the filter results, select a date that is one day later than desired, even if the selected date is in the future.
  • If the time zone is greater than UTC +5:30, only the date that is displayed is one day earlier than what was selected. Despite the displayed date being incorrect, the date that is used in the filter results is the desired date.
