PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance 5.16.0.0 Network-Attached Storage User Guide

Using File Filters with NAS

Mount a NAS share on either a LINUX or on a Windows machine.

To backup a NAS share, ensure it is mounted on a NAS proxy host which is a LINUX VM. All filters that use the folder path condition must be specified using Linux type path names. This is illustrated using the directory structure examples in Using File Filters.

If the directory structure is a NAS File System, then the NAS share name appears as the ASSET NAME on the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance UI. Select the NAS share name as the asset to add the asset to a policy.

For example, the NAS SHARE name for the directory structure is NAS_Share1. To backup the Product1 folder under ClientA and the Common folder, the filter must be:

INCLUDE

Folder Path Matches /NAS_Share1/ClientA/Product1

			OR

Folder Path Matches /NAS_Share1/Common

When using Modification Date filter for NAS shares, enter the modified time in the Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) zone. If a different time zone is used, the system still considers it in UTC, which might incorrectly exclude files or folders.

The allowed proxy levels for NAS share are PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance 19.15 or 19.16, PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance 5.15 or 5.16.
