Filter conditions

Folder Path
  • Use Folder Path condition to match the absolute path name of a folder.
  • Use the folder path condition to include or exclude specific folders and not to filter specific files.
  • Operators that are associated with the Folder Path condition are case-sensitive.
  • Specify the full folder path of the folder or folders to include or exclude filter.
  • If multiple folder paths must be included or excluded, combine them with an OR operator or use a "," (comma) separated list of values.
File/Folder Name
  • The File/Folder Name condition has multiple operators that allow selective pattern matching.
  • Includes or excludes the files and folders that have the matching pattern in their path name.
  • Allows you to match the pattern of a subfolder or file name. When the pattern that is provided by you matches a folder name, all the files in that folder are selected for inclusion or exclusion.
  • Operators that are associated with the File/Folder Name condition are case-sensitive.
File Type
  • Use the File Type condition to include or exclude the files that have an extension. For example, .jar.
  • Include or exclude files the are based on file type by entering *. as the first two characters of your filter query.
NOTE:The *. notation has been retained from the previous version of PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance, it cannot be used as wildcards or used in any other filter conditions.
  • Specify a file name extension or multiple file name extensions that are separated by commas.
  • Operators that are associated with the File Type condition are case-sensitive.
File Size
File Size is calculated in base 10 arithmetic. Include or exclude the files based on file size by specifying the value in the text field.
  • Create a filter that indicates to include files of size 750 MB in the back-up, then the back-up only includes the files that are 750*1000*1000 equal to 750,000,000 bytes.
Creation Date
  • Use the Creation Date filter condition only for files on the Windows operating system.
  • Include or excludes files or folders that were created during a specific Time Interval. For example, Last2 (Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, or Years).
  • Include files or folders that were created at a specific date and time.
  • Include files or folders that were created before or after a certain date range by specifying a date in either the After or Before field.
Modification Date
  • Include files or folders that were modified during a specific Time Interval. For example, Last2 (Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, or Years).
  • Include files or folders that were modified on a specific date and time. Include files or folders that were modified before or after a certain date range by specifying a date in either the After or Before field.
  • Ensure that the Network Time Protocol (NTP) server is configured accordingly to use the Modified Time filter.
  • For NAS shares, enter the modified time in the Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) zone. If a different time zone is used, the system still considers it in UTC, which might incorrectly exclude files or folders.
NOTE: The calendar widget used to select a month closes when scrolling through the dropdown list. Select a month by clicking left arrow or right arrow instead.
