PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance 5.16.0.0 Kubernetes User Guide

Specify a vCenter server as the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance host

You select a vCenter server to be used as the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance host from those already added or discovered.

About this task

Perform the following operations:

Steps

  1. From the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance user interface, click Settings icon, and then select Hosting vCenter.
    The Hosting vCenter window appears.
  2. Choose from one of the following options:
    • Enter FQDN/IP—Select this option to manually enter the fully qualified domain name or IP of the vCenter server, the port number, and to select the vCenter Host Credentials. The Host Credentials list is populated with vCenter servers that have already been added and discovered in PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance. If the host vCenter credentials do not appear in the list, select Add Credentials to enter this information.
    • Select FQDN/IP from asset sources—Select this option to obtain the host vCenter server information automatically from a vCenter asset source that has already been added and discovered in PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance.
  3. Click Save.

Results

If the host vCenter server is added as an asset source in PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance, Hosting vCenter icon is displayed next to this vCenter server in the Infrastructure > Asset Sources window.
NOTE: If a vCenter server that has been configured as the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance host is removed as an asset source, it cannot be added back as an asset source after its hostname or IP address is changed. To resolve this issue, see KB article 000218309.
