Supported commands using the command-line interface

The following section provides you with the list of commands that you can run using the command-line interface.

Command Description
system bash enter This command is used to enter bash on the operating environment PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance, and Protection Storage.

system showfru { Disk | Fan | Power | DIMM | Network | QAT | CPU } The VMware Service Manager commands that you can run directly on the command-line interface. The showfru command is an executable wrapper script for the VMware Service Manager service command-line interface running on the operating environment. It displays information of the devices that are replaceable (Disk, Fan, Power, DIMM, Network, QAT, and CPU) in the system. Output can be generated for each individual field replaceable unit. Operators can use this command to review error details before troubleshooting the device and to verify the health after part replacement. It produces concise outputs in a tabular format that is easy to read.

support bundle create This command creates a support bundle for the operating environment, the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance, and the Protection Storage. Administrators can use "scp" to copy files from /data06/logbundles/ to their local system.

support bundle list This command lists the support bundles that are created or in progress. It can be used to monitor the progress of support bundle creation.

net port-validate This command is exposed to the user using the minishell or the command-line interface. The command helps in debugging the network issues in day1 network configuration.

The command also helps in checking if a port on a host is open for connection or closed.

data-manager storage-unit credentials <mtree> Gets MTree credentials that are created by PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance.

system show serialno This command displays the system serial number or system PSNT.
ddboost show connections This command displays the ddboost connections.
ddboost show stats interval <int> This command displays the ddboost connection stats, at intervals in seconds.
ddboost storage-unit show This command displays the DDVE storage units.
disk port show summary This command displays the DDVE disk port information.
enclosure show summary This command displays the DDVE disk enclosure summary.
enclosure show topology This command displays the topology of all the enclosures.
net lookup <ip> This command displays the IP address lookup.
net ping <ip> This command pings a host to check connectivity.
net show settings This command displays the customer-configured network settings.
tcpdump This command captures or inspects the network packets.
date This command displays the view date and time information.
Table 3. Storage management commandsThe following Protection Storage commands that you can run directly on CLI.
Commands Description
cloud unit del Deletes the specified cloud unit.

Role-Required: admin. This command also requires security officer authorization.  

filesys destroy Deletes the data in the protection system file system.

Role-Required: admin. This command also requires security officer authorization.  

authorization show history Helps to view or audit past authorizations by security officer according to the interval specified.

Role-Required: Security officer.

system passphrase set Sets the passphrase that is used to access the system. The passphrase length must be longer than the configured minimum and cannot exceed 255 characters.

Role-Required: admin and limited admin.  

system passphrase option set store-on-disk no Allows you to choose not to store the passphrase on disk using this command.
NOTE:If the system is configured to not store the passphrase on disk, there is no way to recover it if it is lost. The disadvantage of not storing the passphrase is that you have to unlock the file system every time the system is rebooted.

Role-Required: admin and limited admin. This command also requires security officer authorization.

system passphrase change Changes the passphrase used to access the system. You must disable the file system before using this command, and the new passphrase must contain the minimum number of characters that are configured with the system passphrase option set min-length command.

filesys encryption keys export Exports all encryption keys from the Active and Cloud Tiers to a file that can be used to recover the encryption keys if required. The key file is passphrase encrypted, and you are prompted for a passphrase. To protect the key file, you must enter a new passphrase that differs from the protection system passphrase.

Role-Required: admin and limited admin. This command also requires security officer authorization.

filesys encryption lock Locks the system by creating a system passphrase and destroying the cached copy of the current passphrase. This command is useful when preparing a protection system and its external storage devices for shipment. It is recommended that you keep a record of the passphrase in a safe location. Data cannot be recovered without the new passphrase.

filesys encryption unlock Unlocks the file system. This command prompts you for a system passphrase.

Role-Required: admin and limited admin. This command also requires security officer authorization.

system retention-lock governance security-auth Enables or disables the SO auth option for revert operation on governance MTrees.

Role-Required: admin. This command also requires security officer authorization.
