Associate a virtual network to an Uplink Group

Associate a virtual network to an Uplink Group.

About this task

Each new Uplink Group requires at least one virtual network that is associated with it.
NOTE:You can perform this step only when the replication target is a vault.

Steps

  1. From the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance UI, select Infrastructure > Networks.
    The Networks window appears.
  2. Click Network.
    The Networks window appears.
  3. Click Add to add a new network.
    The Configuration window appears.
  4. In Configuration, for Network Purposes, select one or more traffic types.
    Virtual network traffic types provides more information.
  5. In the Network Name field, type the name of the new virtual network.
    It is recommended that you keep the network names consistent for each VLAN.
  6. In the VLAN ID field, type the numeric value 2 through 4094 that corresponds to the VLAN which this virtual network represents.
    NOTE:Access mode is not supported for the backup network.
  7. From the Uplink Group drop-down, select the Uplink Group name.
  8. By default, the applicable MTU (maximum transmission unit) value for the virtual network is displayed along with the Uplink Group.
    Allowable MTU value is 1500.
  9. In the Subnet Mask field, type the applicable subnet mask address.
  10. For the Data IP Addresses field, provide the indicated number of reserved IP addresses for PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance to use for communication on this virtual network.

    To add values to the pool, type an IP address in the field provided. To add an additional IP address click on the + button and type in the IP address. To remove additional IP address from the pool, click the Delete icon next to the additional IP address field.

    NOTE:A maximum of three IP addresses can be configured for Static IP Addresses when selecting all traffic types.
    NOTE:A maximum of two IP addresses can be configured for Static IP Addresses without Cloud DR.
    NOTE:Maximum one IP address can be configured for Static IP Addresses for Cloud DR.
  11. Verify that the static IP address pool contains enough addresses to add the virtual network.
  12. Click Next.
    The Add Network wizard moves to the Routes window.
  13. Click Next.
    The Add Network wizard moves to the Summary page.
  14. Verify the configuration information, and then click Apply.
    The Add Network wizard closes and the Networks window appears.
  15. Click Uplinks.
    The Uplinks window appears , and the Network Count of the Uplink Group appears as 1.
