PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance supports asset-level configurations for a protection policy. When you update a protection policy,
PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance reconfigures only the specific assets that are associated with the policy and require the configuration changes.
The updates of a protection policy can include changes such as an asset assignment to the policy, storage unit or credential changes, or changes from a
Set Lockbox operation. For a policy update,
PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance creates a separate configuration job for each asset that must be reconfigured on each associated host. For example, if an asset is part of a cluster with three hosts, it
PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance creates three configuration jobs for the asset. A separate job is created for the asset configuration on each host.
In the
System Jobs window in the
PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance UI, you can monitor each asset configuration job that is created for the policy update. Detailed job steps are displayed for each asset configuration job, so that you can view the progress of each step during the configuration.
If an asset configuration job fails, you can restart that particular job. The job report in the
PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance UI includes the reason for the configuration job failure. From the UI, you can also export detailed log bundles at the asset level with the
PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance and agent logs for the configuration jobs.
