PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance 5.15.0.0 Oracle RMAN User Guide

Verify that the environment meets the following requirements:

• Ensure that all clocks on both the Oracle host and PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance are time-synced to the local NTP server to ensure discovery of the backups.
• Ensure that the Oracle host and the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance network can see and resolve each other.
• Ensure that the port to be selected as the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance communication port from the port ranges 7000 to 7009 and 7012 to 7020 is open on the Oracle RMAN agent host. The ports 7010 and 7011 are used by the agent service message bus. Port 7000 is the default communication port.
• Ensure that Oracle Server is installed and configured on one of the following systems:
  • Stand-alone configuration.
  • Oracle RAC configuration.
  NOTE:PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance supports an Oracle database installation in a high-availabillity Data Guard environment that includes a primary production node and standby nodes. Each node is protected as a separate asset with a protection policy in PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance.

• Ensure that a multi-user Oracle environment meets the following requirements:

  • All the Oracle users are members of the same Oracle group.
  • All the Oracle users have group read and write access permissions to the $RMAN_AGENT_HOME directory.
  • The Oracle RMAN agent installation pathname has the 750 permission setting.

Additional AIX prerequisites

• Ensure that IBM XL C or C++ Runtime for AIX 16.1.0.7 or later is installed.
