PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance 5.15.0.0 Oracle RMAN User Guide

Installation requirements for Oracle Incremental Merge

Before you perform any Oracle Incremental Merge operations, ensure that you complete the following installation procedures.

Steps

  1. Ensure that you have completed the installation of the Oracle RMAN agent software on Linux according to the procedures outlined in this chapter.
  2. To enable BoostFS mount-based operations, complete the following steps:
NOTE:The latest Oracle RMAN agent download package for Linux includes the DD BoostFS 7.12 package for both RHEL and SLES. If preferred, you can install this BoostFS 7.12 package by running the Oracle RMAN agent installation script as the root user. The following substeps a to c are mandatory only for an earlier version of BoostFS.
    1. Ensure that you meet the DD BoostFS requirements as described in the latest version of the DD BoostFS for Linux Configuration Guide, available on the Customer Support website.
    2. Download the DD BoostFS software package from the Customer Support website to a temporary local directory. BoostFS version 7.11 is recommended.
    3. Install the DD BoostFS software by running the following command as the root user:
      # rpm -ivh <BoostFS_package_name>.rpm
NOTE:Installation of the DD BoostFS software in a non-default location is not supported.
  3. To enable NFS mount-based operations, edit the /etc/fstab file and add the required entries. The mount options rw,actimeo=0,fg,user,hard,nointr,tcp,timeo=600,nolock are mandatory for the NFS mount-based operations. For example:
    10.125.214.129:/data/col1/oim/blrv094rl19/957697491/full /home/oracle/957697491/blrv094rl19/957697491/full nfs rw,noacl,local_lock=all,nolock,actimeo=0,fg,user,
    hard,nointr,tcp,timeo=600,nosuid 0 0

In this example, the values in the entry are as follows:

    • 10.125.214.129 is the DD IP address.
    • /data/col1/oim/blrv094rl19/957697491/full is the full directory pathname of the DD storage unit:

      • /data/col1/oim is the DD storage unit.
      • blrv094rl19 is the CLIENT_HOSTNAME value provided in the rman_agent_oim.cfg file.
      • 957697491 is the database ID of the asset.
      • full indicates the full directory name.
    • /home/oracle/957697491/blrv094rl19/957697491/full is the mount pathname where the storage unit must be mounted:

      • /home/oracle/ is the Oracle user home pathname.
      • blrv094rl19 is the CLIENT_HOSTNAME value provided in the rman_agent_oim.cfg file.
      • 957697491 is the database ID of the asset.
      • full indicates the full directory name.
    • nfs is the file system type.
    • rw,noacl,local_lock=all,nolock,actimeo=0,fg,user,hard,nointr,tcp,timeo=600,nosuid are the mount options.
