PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance 5.15.0.0 Oracle RMAN User Guide

Enable a disabled Oracle RMAN agent

You can use the procedure in this topic to enabled a disabled Oracle RMAN agent and reregister it to the same PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance system.

You can run the configureAddOn.sh script to enable and reregister the Oracle RMAN agent with PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance only if you have not uninstalled the Oracle RMAN agent and PowerProtect agent service.

If you have cleaned up the installation directories and manually uninstalled both the Oracle RMAN agent and PowerProtect agent service, then you must complete the installation procedures in Install and configure the Oracle RMAN agent.

To enable and reregister the Oracle RMAN agent with PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance, run the configureAddOn.sh script from the RMAN agent addon directory $RMAN_AGENT_HOME/addon.

NOTE:If you specify a hostname or fully qualified domain name (FQDN) with an underscore (_) for the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance server, then the communication will be done by the system's IP address, if provided by the system on registration.

At the script prompts, you can specify the preferred FQDN or IP address of the Oracle RMAN agent host and the port to be used for communication between the Oracle RMAN agent and PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance server. The specified port must be from the supported port ranges 7000 to 7009 and 7012 to 7020. The ports 7010 and 7011 are used by the agent service message bus.

NOTE:If you do not specify a port number, the default port 7000 is used as the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance communication port.

For example:

./configureAddOn.sh
Enter the Oracle RMAN agent home pathname. Press ENTER for the default home pathname /home/oracle/opt/dpsapps/rmanagent:
