PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance 5.15.0.0 Oracle RMAN User Guide

Installation command options

When you run the install.sh script as the root user to install the Oracle RMAN agent and PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance agent, you can use the following options on the install.sh command line. The command options prevent the display of the corresponding script prompts.

For example, when you run the install.sh --clientPort=<port_number> command, the installation script uses the specified port for the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance communication port. As a result, the script does not display the following prompt during the installation:

Enter the Port Number for AgentService[7000]:

You can include multiple options in the same install.sh command. For example, the following command installs and registers the Oracle RMAN agent with system administrator privileges, and also installs the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance agent and BoostFS package. The command options specify the preferred agent host address, communication port, and configuration of the firewall exception rule. The command also specifies the retention time for the Oracle RMAN agent backups.

install.sh --isPPDM=TRUE --OracleUser=oracle --installBOOSTFS=TRUE --PowerProtectServer=10.125.215.10 --sysAdminAccess=TRUE --retentionTime=45 --clientPort=7002 --preferredAddress=10.125.208.87 --firewallException

The following table describes the supported install.sh command options for the Oracle RMAN agent installation or update operations with the script.

NOTE:The ports 7010 and 7011 are used by the agent service message bus. If you do not specify a port number, the default port 7000 is used as the communication port.
For example:
install.sh --clientPort=7009
-a DD_SERVER_NAME=<server_name> -a DD_STORAGE_UNIT=<storage_unit> Specifies the DD server name and DD storage unit for the Oracle RMAN agent operations with PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance. For example:
install.sh -a DD_SERVER_NAME=<server_name> -a DD_STORAGE_UNIT=<storage_unit>
--firewallException Specifies to set the firewall exception rule for the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance communication port. For example:
install.sh --firewallException

install.sh --installBOOSTFS=TRUE
--isPPDM={TRUE|FALSE} Specifies whether to register the Oracle RMAN agent with the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance server. For example:

--OracleUser=<Oracle_username> Specifies the Oracle user that was used to install the Oracle database software. For example:
 install.sh --OracleUser=<Oracle_username>
--overwriteAddOns={TRUE|FALSE} Specifies whether to overwrite the existing addon configuration. For example:
install.sh --overwriteAddOns=TRUE
--PowerProtectServer={FQDN|IP} Specifies whether to use the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance server fully qualified domain name (FQDN) or IP address to register the Oracle RMAN agent. For example:
install.sh --PowerProtectServer=FQDN
--preferredAddress=

<agent_host_FQDN_or_IP>

Specifies the FQDN or IP address of the Oracle RMAN agent host to be registered with the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance server. The preferred host address is used for communication between the Oracle RMAN agent and the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance server. For example:
install.sh --preferredAddress=
<agent_host_FQDN_or_IP>
--retentionTime=<number_of_days> Specifies the default retention time in number of days for existing Oracle backups in the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance. For example:
install.sh --retentionTime=45
--silent (Optional) Specifies to perform a silent installation of the addons. For example:
