PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance 5.15.0.0 Oracle RMAN User Guide

Enable the Oracle RMAN agent after reusing IP address from non-Oracle host

You can migrate to a different Oracle RMAN agent host that reuses the IP address from a host that is not an Oracle host. For example, the new Oracle RMAN agent host reuses the IP address from a file system host, Microsoft SQL Server host, or SAP HANA host.

Steps

  1. Delete the non-Oracle host by deleting the asset source according to Delete an asset source. This procedure unregisters the non-Oracle host from PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance and removes the host assets after all the asset copies have expired.
The assets and asset source of the original host are still in the "Deleted" state, unless the asset copies have expired and garbage collection has run.
  2. Assign the IP address (static IP) to the new Oracle RMAN agent host.
  3. Run the Oracle RMAN agent installer to register the new Oracle RMAN agent host with the same PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance server.
  4. Ensure that the centralized and self-service Oracle backups are successful with the new host.
