Create Vault Network

Create a dedicated Vault Network on PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure that the appliance has a dedicated uplink configured.
  • Ensure a Security Officer User exists on the appliance.

Steps

  1. From the PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance UI, select Infrastructure > Networks> Uplinks.
    The Uplinks window appears.
  2. Click Add.
    The Add Uplink Group window appears.
  3. Enter the name in the Uplink Group Name field.
    The Configuration window appears.
  4. Select the appropriate port to be used for Vault connection from the Available Uplinks drop-down.
  5. Click Save.
    The Networks window appears.
  6. Click Network > Add
    The Add Network window appears.
  7. Select the radio button for Vault Replication in Configuration for Network Purposes.
    • This enables a dedicated appliance network connectivity to the vault network. This network requires an uplink group with a single uplink, and cannot be shared across networks.
    NOTE:Virtual network traffic types provides more information.
  8. Type the name of the new virtual network in the Network Name field.
    It is recommended to keep the network names consistent for each VLAN.
  9. Type the numeric value 2 through 4094 in the VLAN ID field that corresponds to the VLAN which this virtual network represents.
    For direct connection, use VLAN ID 0.
  10. Select the Uplink Group name, from the Uplink Group drop-down.
  11. The appliance MTU (maximum transmission unit) value is set to 1500.
  12. Type the applicable subnet mask address, in the Subnet Mask field.
  13. Enter the data IP address that would be using for the Vault purpose.
  14. Click Next.
    NOTE:This is an optional field.
    The Add Network wizard moves to the Routes window.
  15. Click Next.
    The Add Network wizard moves to the Summary page.
  16. Verify the configuration information, and then click Apply.
    The Add Network wizard closes and the Networks window appears.
  17. Click Uplinks.
    The Uplinks window appears.
