PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance 5.15.0.0 Administrator's Guide for DM5500

Administrative log management

Use the following procedure to add, delete, and download a log bundle.

About this task

NOTE:You can store a maximum of 200 GB capacity of log bundles.

Steps

  1. From the DM5500 user interface, click Settings icon, and then click Logs.
  2. Click Create to add a log bundle.
Initiates log bundle creation. The Logs window displays the progress of the log bundle creation, in the Status column. Also, a green banner in the UI indicates that the log bundle has been successfully created. If you want to dismiss the banner, click X.

If there is a failure in creating the log bundle, a yellow triangle is displayed next to the bundle name. Hover over the yellow triangle to see the components for which the log bundle creation failed.

NOTE:When log bundle creation is in progress, users cannot initiate another log bundle creation as the Create button is disabled until the log bundle is created.
  3. To download the log bundle, click the download icon next to the bundle name in the Bundle Name column.
  4. To delete the log bundle, select the check box to the left of log bundle and click Delete.
  5. Click Ok on the warning message to confirm the deletion.
NOTE:Users cannot delete the log bundle which is being created, as the Delete button is disabled when that log bundle is selected. Wait for the log bundle creation to complete to delete the bundle.
The Log Capacity indicates the available space (in GB) on the disk for log bundles and the percentage of the disk in use for log bundle storage.
NOTE:If the log bundle's size reaches the maximum capacity, log bundles cannot be created. Delete a few log bundles to proceed with creating log bundles. The Log Capacity bar turns red if the log bundle capacity is above 80 percent.
