Installing the expansion card riser 1

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
  3. Remove the air shroud
  4. Remove the M.2 direct riser
  5. Remove the side cover.

Steps

  1. Align the riser with the riser slot on the 2U sled.
  2. Using both hands, lower the riser 1 until it is seated firmly.
  3. Using a Phillips 2 screwdriver, tighten the captive screws to secure the expansion card riser 1 on to the 2U sled.

  4. Connect the riser card power cables to 2U PDB and 4x signal cables to connectors on the system board.
  5. For HM Configuration, connect heater cables from the HM PCIe card on the riser to the 2U power distribution board (heater 9, heater 10), and connect sensor cables from the PCIe card to sensor ports on the system board (sensor 4, sensor 8).
