Removing a cooling fan on 2U sled
Prerequisites
- Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety Instructions.
- Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
- Remove the air shroudNOTE:Observe the fan cable routing or make a note of the fan cable routing.
Steps
- Route the fan cables properly through the fan guard and disconnect the cable from the connector on the power distribution board (PDB) of the 2U sled.
NOTE:Fan 5, 6, 7 and 8 are connected to the 2U PDB.

- Pull slightly to disengage the fan cable from the fan guard and then lift the fan module out of the fan cage.
NOTE: The airflow directional arrow outward on the fan indicates Reverse-Air-Flow (RAF).
