Removing the optical drive
Prerequisites
- Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
- Follow the procedure that is listed in Before working inside your system.
- Remove the front bezel.
- Disconnect the power and data cables from the optical drive.
NOTE:Ensure that you note the routing of the power and data cable as you remove them from the system board and drive.
Steps
- To release the optical drive, press and push the release tab toward the front of the system.
- Slide the optical drive out of the system.

NOTE:If optical drive is not being replaced, install optical drive blank.
