Removing the graphics card

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the side cover.

About this task

The following images indicate the location of the graphics card and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.

Steps

  1. Lift the pull tab on the PCIe door outwards to open the PCIe door.
  2. Push and hold the tab that secures the graphics card to the PCIe card connector (SLOT2) on the system board.
  3. Gently lift the graphics card off the PCIe card connector on the system board.
  4. Align and slide the PCIe blanking plate in the slot on the chassis.
    NOTE:Do not perform this step if you are immediately replacing the graphics card with a new PCIe card.
  5. Close the PCIe door and press it gently until it clicks in place on the chassis.
    NOTE:Do not perform this step if you are immediately replacing the graphics card with a new PCIe card.
