Installing the chassis fan

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

About this task

The following image indicates the location of the chassis fan and provide a visual representation of the installation procedure.

Steps

  1. Insert the first two rubber grommets on the chassis fan.
  2. Place the fan thought the chassis and push the rubber grommets downward until they are secured to the chassis.
  3. Align the slots on the fan with the second set of holes on the chassis.
  4. Route the rubber grommets through the slots on the fan and pull the rubber grommets until the fan snaps into position.
  5. Connect the fan cable to the connector on the system board.
    NOTE:Ensure that the orientation of air flow is toward the inside of the chassis, and the PPID label on the fan is on top as seen on the image above.

  2. Install the 3.5-inch hard-drive.
  3. Install the 2.5-inch hard-drive.
  4. Install the front bezel.
  5. Install the side cover.
  6. Follow the procedure in after working inside your computer.
