Removing the system board

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. stand
    2. back cover
    3. cable cover
    4. speaker cover
    5. speaker
    6. hard drive
    7. optical drive
    8. VESA mount bracket
    9. system board shield
    10. SSD card
    11. WLAN card
    12. memory
    13. heat sink
    14. system fan
    15. processor
    16. coin cell battery
    17. power supply unit
  3. Disconnect the following cables from the system board:
    1. display [1]
    2. system fan [2]
    3. SATA [3]
    4. side button cable [4]
    5. intrusion switch, hard drive and optical drive [5]
    6. speaker [6]
    7. camera and microphone [7]

  4. Remove the screws that secure the system board to the chassis.

  5. Slide and lift the system board to remove it from the computer.
