Dell NetWorker 19.9 Administration Guide

Disk space monitoring

Alerts are listed in the Alerts pane of the NMC and also received in the SNMP trap receiver.

NOTE:To configure SNMP traps, see SNMP traps.

There are individual alerts for each NetWorker client whose occupied disk space goes beyond 80%. These alerts are not persistent and get cleared automatically when the occupied disk space goes below 80%.

Once the services are up and running, the following alerts are generated if there is low disk space:

  • Info - If the disk volume occupied is 80% to 90% of the total disk size.
  • Warning - If the disk volume occupied is 90% to 95% of the total disk size.
  • Emergency - If the disk volume occupied is greater than 95% of the total disk size.

The minimum available disk space for monitoring threshold is 20% of the disk size. This is for disk size less than 100 GB. If the disk size is greater than 100 GB, the minimum available disk space monitoring threshold is 20 GB. Based on this threshold limit, the corresponding alert is generated.

You can enable or disable disk space monitoring at the data zone level and for a selected client using the following attributes:

  • Data zone level—Disk Space Monitoring DZ: Enabled [Disabled];
  • Selected client—Disk Space Monitoring: Enabled [Disabled];

By default, disk space monitoring is disabled at both the data zone level and the client level. To enable disk space monitoring on any specific node, enable the data zone and client level attributes using nsradmin.

If the data zone level attribute is disabled, disk space monitoring is disabled for all the clients that belong to the data zone regardless of whether the client level attribute is enabled or disabled.

NOTE:
  • Disk space monitoring is active on the server node regardless of the data zone or client attribute states.
  • NetWorker server services start only if the available disk space is greater than 10 MB.
