Dell NetWorker 19.9 Administration Guide

Creating NSR DD Device Replication Resource

To perform export and import of replicated volume, NetWorker orchestrated replication must know the source NetWorker server, the target NetWorker server, and the replicated device names. NetWorker Orchestrated replication must also know the source DD, the target DD, and the replicated mtree names. A new NSR resource NSR DD device replication is added to the NetWorker server to configure all the required information for the NetWorker orchestrated replication. See the NetWorker Command Reference Guide to create NSR DD device replication resource.
NOTE:Since Networker supports mtree replication only, entire mtree is replicated. So, if mtree has multiple volumes, data from all volumes will be replicated. However, you can replicate metadata for selected volumes by creating separate NSR DD Device replication resource for each corresponding device.

Prerequisites

  • Add the source NetWorker server as a NetWorker client in the target NetWorker server and vice versa. Specify the same NetWorker client name for the source and the target NetWorker servers while creating NSR DD device replication resource.
  • Create DD Device by using secure multi-tenancy (SMT) option for replicated volumes on the target NetWorker server. Select the target mtree name that has been used while creating Data Domain mtree replication in Data Domain.
  • To create the NSR DD device replication resource simultaneously on the source and target NetWorker servers, source NetWorker server should have the Create Application Settings or Configure NetWorker privilege on the target NetWorker server. Grant the permission on the target NetWorker server as below:
target server console → Server Menu → User Groups → Application Administrator → Users →

For Linux Server, add user "user=root, host=<Source NW Server name>" and for Windows, add user "user=SYSTEM,host=<Source NW Server name>"
  • When creating NSR DD device replication on the target NetWorker server, resource can be created only on the target NetWorker server. It cannot be simultaneously created on the source NetWorker server.
  • NetWorker orchestrated replication does not support cross operating system platforms. Both source and target NetWorker servers must be of the same operating system platforms.
