Exporting and importing zDP definitions

You can export or import zDP definitions manually with the zDP Definition Utility EXPORT and IMPORT command or using the corresponding controls on zDP ISPF panels.

These controls are available when the zDP definition export and import feature are enabled by setting the zDP GLOBAL command EXPortDEF option to YES or AUTO.

Export includes creating a VDG or target set object and writing it to SFS on each participating storage system for each defined VDG and TGT or for any individually specified VDG or TGT.

Import means reloading the VDG or target set object from SFS for each exported VDG and target set or for any individually specified one. The reloaded objects are decoded and processed by the zDP definition routines.

The imported VDG or target set must be explicitly restarted after being imported.

NOTE:For information about importing saved objects, see Deleting and saving exported zDP definitions.
