PDF

CYCLE_TIME

Specifies how often and for how many cycles to create snapsets.

The CYCLE_TIME parameter can be specified on the DEFINE VDG and MODIFY VDG OPTIONS commands. When using CYCLE_TIME, ensure that the settings comply with the snapset limit guidelines.

Syntax

CYCLE_TIME(interval[,count][,SECURE,retention[,skip][,keepexp]])

Options

interval
Defines the time interval to create snapsets (in minutes). Valid values are 5 through 525600. The default value is 60.
count
Defines the number of cycles. zDP terminates when count is reached. Valid values are 0 through 9999. A value of 0 is unlimited and is the default.
SECURE,retention[,skip][,keepexp]

Creates secure snapsets.

retention defines the retention period in days (1-400). The default value is 1.

skip defines the skip value (0-1024).When specifying a skip value, the first created snapset is always secure. A skip value of “1” results in secure snapsets 1, 3, 5, and so on. Specifying “2” results in secure snapsets 1, 4, 7, and so on.

The default value is not to create secure snapsets. If the skip value is 0, all snapsets are secure.

keepexp defines how many days the expired secure snapset should be retained. Valid values are 1 through 400.

NOTE: keepexp is not mandatory and can be omitted when defining the VDG with the SECURE option.
