Removing the System Board

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. battery

    2. base cover

    3. keyboard trim

    4. keyboard

    5. hard drive

    6. palmrest

    7. WWAN card

    8. WLAN card

    9. hinge cover

    10. display assembly

  3. Disconnect the hard-drive cable [1] and power-connector port cable [2] from their connectors on the system board. Figure displaying disconnecting hard-drive cable and power-connector cable on the system board.
  4. Disconnect the speaker cable [1] [2]and I/O board cable [3] from their connectors on the system board. Figure displaying removal of speaker and I/O board cable
  5. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Remove the screws that secure the system board to the computer chassis [1].
    2. Remove the system board from the computer chassis [2].
